Donations & Volunteers
Carolina One employees and agents are the key to our fundraising and volunteer effort. Along with our numerous corporate partners, each office is encouraged to raise as much money as possible to reach our goal and sign up as many assembly and delivery volunteers as possible for assembly day.
All of the food for the Basket Brigade is purchased from Piggly Wiggly. Piggly Wiggly employees are a huge help in delivering all of the food to the staging sites for the meal assembly. The company also provides a discount on food purchases and the boxes for the meals. This would not be made possible without the coordination from Store Operator Derek Pace and Chief Marketing Officer Christopher Ibsen.
Our 2012 goal is to order $100,000 in groceries and feed over 20,000 people here locally!
Communities in Schools is an incredible non-profit organization that provides multiple dropout prevention programs and helps support basic needs of high risk kids. This organization has 39 in-school employees and 11 office staff members working full time in 23 Charleston County and Berkeley County schools to serve over 10,750 students (92% from low-income families).
CIS Program Coordinator, Leslie Skinner and other CIS employees provide the Basket Brigade with a list of families in need each year. They contact the families and let them know they will be receiving a meal. Michelle Scarafile and her team of volunteers map out directions to the pre-selected families the day of the brigade.
Momentum Marketing is a local advertising and public relations firm owned by Basket Brigade co-founder Pam Hartley. Momentum is the driving force behind the overall marketing for the Basket Brigade and provides public relations, event planning, social media, brand development, community outreach and much more.
