We are so excited to announce that the Charleston Basket Brigade is returning to a hands-on, in person event this year!

We have secured turkeys as well as all the groceries needed from LowCountry Grocers’ Piggly Wiggly to provide a full Thanksgiving meal for 3,500 families. The North Charleston Convention Center has graciously donated space for our assembly and delivery efforts and Communities in Schools is working diligently on their end to organize the names and addresses of families in need of meals.

And, of course, much of our success is due in large part to the efforts and staff of Carolina One Real Estate.  From supplying boxes, to coordinating delivery, to office fundraisers and the hundreds of volunteers, Carolina One has been an indispensable partner.

So, it’s all coming together and now it’s time to fundraise and recruit volunteers.

Set up begins at noon on Monday, November 21st, and at that time we’ll set up tables, get all non-perishable groceries on the assembly lanes, and put together boxes. On Tuesday, November 22nd, we’ll come together at 7am to assemble meals and load the 3500 meals in cars for delivery throughout the Charleston Tri-County area. Volunteers are needed for set up Monday and Tuesday for assembly and delivery.

As you know, the world has changed.  Covid has greatly impacted all of our lives as well as our beloved charity. Pam is newly married and splits her time between Charleston and Beaufort, and as you know, Michelle has been living in Australia for the past 5 years which has made our event difficult for Pam and her team to execute in her absence.

After much thought, reflection and deliberation (and many, many prayers) we have decided that this will be the 15th and final year of the Charleston Basket Brigade.

Over the last 15 years, we have raised over $1.3 Million and fed over 240,000 people.  WOW!  What a legacy. This would not have been possible without YOU; the community – COMING TOGETHER TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

Pam and I will be forever grateful for all the support, time, energy and effort you have invested in the CBB over the past 15 years.  We are so proud of everything we’ve accomplished and the difference we have made.

Let’s do it ONE MORE TIME.

WHEN A COMMUNITY COMES TOGETHER TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE…MAGIC HAPPENS.

With sincere gratitude,

Michelle Scarafile Wallace and Pam Hartley
