It’s A Wrap!

Dear friends, Michelle Scarafile & Pam Hartley work tirelessly each year to feed thousands of families in need during the Thanksgiving holiday. And this year was no exception.  Last Tuesday, November 22nd, the tireless efforts of the duo paid off resulting in Thanksgiving meals for more than 21,000 people in the Lowcountry.

We wish to offer a heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated; be it a donation or volunteering your time.  Feeding this many people is no small feat and it wouldn’t come together without the kind and caring people of this community.

Wrapping up its ninth year, the project has grown exponentially. This year, with the help of so many volunteers and the organization’s partners at Carolina One Real Estate, Lowcountry Grocer’s Piggly Wiggly and Communities In Schools, the Charleston Basket Brigade was able to feed 3,500 families. Our Executive Director Emily Trogdon works closely with member of the community in need of assistance, not to mention the unbelievable press we’re able to garner thanks to Pam and her team at Momentum Marketing. Michelle works countless hours with Communities in Schools to locate families in need, plan out over 400 deliver routes and pair them with volunteers who deliver full, ready-to-cook Thanksgiving meals to their doorsteps.

We want to send a huge, heartfelt “Thank You” to everyone who contributed their time, their money, their gas mileage, and their support to the Charleston Basket Brigade!

Pam said, “We were overwhelmed by the sheer number of volunteers that showed up to help this year. It’s proof positive that this community really pulls together to help those in need. It was such an inspiring effort and Michelle and I are eternally grateful for every single person that gave of their time and resources.”

A big weekend for The CBB!

IMG_9417It was a big fundraising weekend for The Charleston Basket Brigade.

Emily and Michelle were down on King Street (in what was truly the first chilly day of the season) at Second Sunday auctioning off some amazing, all-inclusive vacation trips to the Caribbean.  Special thanks to Sebastian Culpepper, Angela Williams, Rusty Streetman and Julian Smith who were our big winners of the day.  Together, we raised $3,500!

From Thursday – Sunday, volunteers from Carolina One Longpoint Road office manned the tables at Coastal Cupboard’s Annual Knife Sharpening talking up the Basket Brigade, recruiting volunteers and helping to get those knives sharpened.

Under the guidance of Patti Vick, that group raised $3,194.

charitySpecial thanks go out to not only The Coastal Cupboard, but also Betsy Martin, Karen Coley, Tom Ritter, Tricia Gilbert, Liz Tecco, Derek Epperson, Jane Abbott, Peggy Leete, Cindy Elenberger and Jason Newhauser for volunteering your time this past weekend…

Between the two events, we raised almost $6,700.   Thank you!  Your efforts truly matter!

It’s almost “GO” time!

Each year it seems that the time between Basket Brigade gets shorter and shorter. (Maybe that’s because we’re all getting older? LOL)

Regardless, this year’s event is upon us and we’ve upped the ante.

Our goal this year is to feed 3,500 families (That 21,000 people y’all) and to do it, we’ve got to raise $105,000.

Which leads in to something we’re super excited to share with you…

As you may or may not know, Carolina One Real Estate Services is our biggest partner. They are our largest source of volunteers and a vital part of our fundraising efforts. Check out the video below of our little ones working to make a difference for families less fortunate in our community.

We proudly present CORE KIDS CARE 2015!

As of today, we’re about a quarter of the way towards our goal and we’ve only got three more weeks to raise the money we need to pull this epic event off.

$30 is all it takes to feed a less fortunate family this Thanksgiving.   Your donation will go towards providing a complete Thanksgiving feast for those who would otherwise go without.  The meal includes: a 10-12 lb turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes with marshmallows, green beans, corn, cranberry sauce, rolls and a pie.

There are lots of ways you can get involved…

For starters, please share the above video!

Sponsor a family or two (or three) and sign up to deliver.  Click here for more information on how to get involved.
