It’s A Wrap!

Dear friends, Michelle Scarafile & Pam Hartley work tirelessly each year to feed thousands of families in need during the Thanksgiving holiday. And this year was no exception.  Last Tuesday, November 22nd, the tireless efforts of the duo paid off resulting in Thanksgiving meals for more than 21,000 people in the Lowcountry.

We wish to offer a heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated; be it a donation or volunteering your time.  Feeding this many people is no small feat and it wouldn’t come together without the kind and caring people of this community.

Wrapping up its ninth year, the project has grown exponentially. This year, with the help of so many volunteers and the organization’s partners at Carolina One Real Estate, Lowcountry Grocer’s Piggly Wiggly and Communities In Schools, the Charleston Basket Brigade was able to feed 3,500 families. Our Executive Director Emily Trogdon works closely with member of the community in need of assistance, not to mention the unbelievable press we’re able to garner thanks to Pam and her team at Momentum Marketing. Michelle works countless hours with Communities in Schools to locate families in need, plan out over 400 deliver routes and pair them with volunteers who deliver full, ready-to-cook Thanksgiving meals to their doorsteps.

We want to send a huge, heartfelt “Thank You” to everyone who contributed their time, their money, their gas mileage, and their support to the Charleston Basket Brigade!

Pam said, “We were overwhelmed by the sheer number of volunteers that showed up to help this year. It’s proof positive that this community really pulls together to help those in need. It was such an inspiring effort and Michelle and I are eternally grateful for every single person that gave of their time and resources.”

2 months, 1 week, 3 days…

CBB_2012Char393Fall is in the air and the Charleston Basket Brigade is gearing up for this year’s event on Tuesday, November 26th.
Since 2008, we’ve been assisting tri-county families in need on Thanksgiving by providing everything needed to cook a complete holiday meal.   Our hope is that these families get a chance to come together, prepare and enjoy their Thanksgiving dinner while creating some magical moments with their loved ones.
We are eternally grateful for the generous support of local firms like Piggly Wiggly and Carolina One Real Estate. Their involvement allows the Basket Brigade to bring smiles and hope to tens of thousands of lowcountry children and their families.
Gwynn's Logo2The Wrenn GroupAND, this year the Basket Brigade is extremely proud to announce that well known designer department store, Gwynn’s of Mt. Pleasant and Charleston real estate developer, The Wrenn Group have joined the humanitarian effort. We are so thankful and appreciative of their contribution to this year’s event.
Our big fundraiser this year is the annual knife sharpening at Coastal Cupboard the weekend of November 1-3. Gather all of your dull knives because for only $1 per knife, you can get your cutlery sharpened and help to feed local families in need at Thanksgiving all at the same time.
We’ve got to raise $90,000 this year to meet our goal of feeding over 3,000 families and we couldn’t do it without the help of the community and the generous donations of companies like Gwynn’s and The Wrenn Group. We are forever appreciative.
